About Me
Kaoru Kumabe
SpoonBiker
Kaoru has made many mistakes in his life. In fact, he has made 47 years worth of them, starting at birth when he chose to come out feet first. Since then, he has been responsible for a series of bumbling errors, leading up to his current life.
He studied French for seven years at school but has never used it. Tant pis. He thinks he may have earned the wrong degree (a BAS in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo in Canada). He worked as a computer programmer for only a couple of years before opting for a career in project and program management instead. He’s been an IT manager and a mentor, recounting stories about his misguided life.
He’s a night owl who thinks he’s an early bird. He dances funny and takes part in a sport that might be better played by a dog. He twitches when someone mispronounces the word nuclear, but he has mispronounced almonds for most of his life.
He has started a business that failed in its first year. He has suffered through depression, anxiety, and the loss of people close to him.
Kaoru was born in Japan, has lived in eight cities, on three continents, and has traveled to over 30 countries, leaving a trail of mishaps around the world. At 45, he left his job in Toronto to move back to Japan. Another blunder? We shall see.
You can read all about his mistakes, so that you won’t have to make them yourself.
Happily living and learning in Tokyo, Kaoru is now making all new mistakes in child rearing, as he attempts to raise two kids with his very patient wife.
