We tend to think of biological evolution as the progression of a species. But since this species requires the ecosystem in which it thrives and all the other organisms within it, we could think of evolution in a much broader context. The ecosystem, the planet, and the universe are evolving together with this species.
Are the changes that we see within a species just infinitesimal steps within the grander sequence of events that are naturally unfolding starting with the Big Bang? Where are we in this timeline? What comes after us? How many times has this happened before?
